After graduating from high school, Dave attended Western Carolina University majoring in engineering. He was hired by Milliken Industries, and he had a successful career with them until he retired and moved back to western North Carolina…
Fast forward to 2019: Dave loves projects. He’s well known for restoring vintage Volvos as well as refurbishing real estate acquisitions. In 2018, he purchased the former Tellico Lace plant in Warne. Many ideas were considered for this latest project. One afternoon, Dave heard children laughing outside. He looked and saw three girls and a boy tubing down the creek and having a great time. Hence, the idea for West Tubing Company was born. The goal for this venture is to have a place for people to come have a great time and make lasting memories.
The property and building were purchased by Dave & his wife, June, in a state of disrepair, and their time and effort has not gone unrewarded. The building that now houses West Tubing Company is undergoing extensive renovations to house West Tubing Company.
Originally deeded to the Lidseen family, in 1972, the building was home to Tellico Lace Company. The company manufactured lace trim and collars for dresses and apparel. The bustling business, filled with machines and threading, employed many local residents. In later years, the business fell to the hands of automation, and the building sat vacant for more than 30 years.
Upon acquisition, Dave’s plan was a total renovation of the facility, roof-down! Take a look at our progress below. We hope that you’ll agree that “We’re not your ordinary rafting company!”

*Our business hours may vary due to poor weather conditions. Should you be in question, give us a call. Last tubing trip of the day is at 5PM.
